Neurodiverse City was set up to support schools and parents in a society where education and health services are increasingly restricted and underfunded. Identifying the assessment and support services available for neurodiverse children and knowing where to go and who to turn to, often feels overwhelming, both for parents and school staff. As a specialist educational needs advisor and assessor, my role is to support parents and schools navigate the education world for neurodiverse children, to provide assessment services for specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, and to help with identifying and accessing the correct assessment pathway.
My specialist knowledge and experience come from a combination of extensive post-graduate studying in the field of SEN and 17+ years working in a range of specialist and mainstream schools as a teacher, SENDCo and Senior Leader. These opportunities have enabled me to develop a detailed understanding of neurotypical and neurodiverse children and the strategies needed to meet their individual needs within the classroom, as well as the range of therapeutic and support services available for them and their families. Neurodiverse City is providing a platform where I can share this knowledge and experience on a wider scale, through working with schools and families across London and the South East.
Qualifications:
Masters (MEd) in Special and Inclusive Education (University of Cambridge)
Post-Graduate Certificate in Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordination (A Nationally required qualification for SENDCos)
Post-Graduate Certificate in Assessing Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs)
Qualified Teacher Status
BA (Hons) Criminology and Sociology
